    ratios for shifters and changers for shimano and SRAM. Are these cross compatible?

    Yup. IF you use a Sram front shifter with a Shimano fron mech.

    I think that some older Sram stuff works with Shimano shifters on the rear too, but not sure if thats still applies and I’ve not done/tried it

    Shimano 10-speed rear mech is very nearly compatible with SRAM 9-speed shifter, only needs a wee spacer to correct the ratio.

    (this is Shimano admitting at last that SRAM’s longer cable pull is the correct way to make an mtb mech, but not making it exactly the same because that’d make it too obvious what they were doing 😉 )
