After all the cries of ‘apocalypse” I like the sound of Laura Boocock:

Ms Boocock said: “It is quite dramatic to see but it is nothing we can’t deal with.”

In other news a BBC weatherman says warm dry conditions may be a contributing factor, who knew? Now where did MNPR take place this week?

been quite a bit of heather burning on the hills around here, I suspect managed by estates though can’t be sure — I suspect it’s easier to control as the really dry rubbish stuff will burn while underlying vegetation won’t really take hold.

My guess is some idiots went up and had a BBQ trying to enjoy this weather.

It’s normal if a little early for moorland fires. More usually around Easter, lots of dead grass from last year, new growth not started yet, often a dry spell coupled with kids on school holidays. We know spring is on its way when there’s smoke rising in East Lancashire.
