Dual air, travel adjust, 150mm Team version. Failed on first ride after fitting.

Everything fine for a few miles then I stopped to pump the forks while off the bike to see how things were feeling. “Crack” sound and the forks shoot through the first 30mm of travel and then feel like they’ve bottomed out. The travel adjust has stopped working. Then, although the pressure in both chambres is still measuring ok, the forks gradually sink right to the crown.

Interesting riding experience to get home…

I guess this is probably to do with the travel adjust top assembly, not sure whether to try and do anything myself. They will be under warrenty but were bought on ebay.

    cheers

this happened to ventanarider off here a few weeks back. The U-turn had broken, so he now has a new 2011 pair as a warranty replacement with the 2 step system 🙂

That would be a result! I never really liked the u-turn and thought 2-step would be better, even if there were mixed reviews of the Lyrik version

My Rev U-turns are with fishers for the same issue, some kind of circlip (well something to do with the u-turn) failure, except the failed bit then spent the rest of the ride (back to the car) scoring all the internals…. Take em to you LBS & get em to send them back to fishers – who seem very helpful, though the parts for mine are on back order till the end of the month

Edit: mine are a US eBay import… My LBS were fine, as I’d emailed fishers direct & they said to send em in (via an lbs, not direct). They’ve not asked to see the reciept, just asked the purchase date

Bought from an ebay seller, just getting in touch with him for the original receipt. They were boxed and unused when I bought, but not pump or manual in the box. Pretty sure I’ve had warranty work done before without the original receipt…

z1ppy – pretty sure I made things worse riding on them too, but to be honest, if that forces Fishers into giving me a completely new fork then fine! A 200m decent in the Wye Valley from above Tintern probably didnt do them alot of good.

I wasn’t offered anything in exchange, but then mine do have a 1.5 steerer. Even with the wait I’m happy as there a US import I expected to have to pay for the repairs (which after the fisher’s techie phoned me about the back log, sounds like it would have been quite expensive)

I thought that the U-Turn system was generally very reliable? I’ve three sets of Pikes all with U-Turn and have never had an issue. I’ll be watching my Revelations like a hawk now.

I’ve run two sets of u-turn reba’s for years without issues, my rev’s have had a fair bit of use sInce I got them in July let year. When i posted about the issue on hear, the 1st reply said he bet they were 2010’s.. Which mine are, so it seems they had a problem with the 2010 ones, I’m surprised the issue still exists to be fair

Aye, there was a big issue with the early ones and u-turn failures, was a big hoo-haa about it at the time but seemed to be fixed quickly, mine have been spot on.

Ms AD and myself have had 2 sets of pikes and 2 revs with u-turn, this 5th set are the first to go wrong. Maybe just a 2010 problem?

Looks like I’m shafted as to a refund, as I had a “Best Offer” accepted and used an unconnected Paypal transaction to pay, you live and learn…. As above though, I’m hoping Fishers wont need an original receipt.

Anyone know if TF Tuned will do Rockshox warranty work directly?
