Time i took some responsibilty for heading out into the hills on my own or with others. I want to do some sort of first aid course as I’ve not done anything since cub-scouts.
I know there’re a few in the Lakes which is convenient for me (in Northumberland). Any recomendations for Centres/courses? Anyone on here run suitable training courses?

Another +1 for BASP. One of the best courses I’ve done on anything anywhere. Takes you waaaay further than just getting your First Aid certificate by giving you actual practical stuff on how to cope in the hills.

+1 BASP. Mine was taught by a guy who had done emergency first aid on te hill since 19canteen. He had an experience to relay of every single aspect of the course and it was fascinating.

Talk to carl (he’s on fb… go on, it’s not that scary) although he’ll have you taking survival tents out for anything more than five minutes away from a pub.

Sounds like these might be a little too specialist/advanced, but I can recommend wilderness medical training and expedition medicine to anyone looking to extend their skills/knowledge. Very useful courses for people planning trips a little further from help than usual. A decent handbook for both professionals and laypeople is the Oxford Handbook of Expedition and Wilderness Medicine.
