Carbon frame with the dull / Matt finish. If I have it invisiframed will it give it a shiny look or will it retain its flat look?

You can get gloss or matt invisiframe kits. Had a matt one put on a Matt carbon frame, made it a tiny bit shinier but nothing major

what do you reckon to fitting your own kit? Is it as easy as it looks or is worth paying your lbs to do it for you?

It depends on how closely the level of matt-ness on your frame matches that of the tape. I know this is stating the obvious but there's quite a degree of variation in matt finishes.

If it's any use as a guide then the matt vinyl is close to but slightly shinier than the finish on a black Rockshox fork. It will probably be ok but less likely to be as 'invisible' as the gloss vinyl on gloss paint.

Re: fitting. If the frame is new or very clean and you are patient and good with your hands then give it a go.

Ive done 4.

Top tips - clean the bike with isopropyl alchohol, use a teaspoon of baby shampoo in 500ml of water. Use a spray bottle to apply the water.

Takes a few hours, even for my 4th one.

Use warm water and wet your fingers, the frame and the invisi kit.

Some bits take a while to stick, squeegee out the water, then go back 20 mins later and try sticking down the edges that were an issue.

It's not hard but does take time. The amount of soap seems to vary with temp. But it's all in the instructions
But
Clean work space , clear bench , clean hands and clean degreased bike
