Archive footage from interviews with WW1 veterans, taken in the 1950’s.

Remember my Gran telling us about watching the soldiers from the village marching off and hearing the guns from the Somme.

    Excellent – and very moving.

Included an interview with Henry Williamson, of Tarka the Otter fame.

The full interviews are available on the I-player and are remarkable.

Is there any way that I can watch this in the US?

No, you will have to wait for WWII programmes, then come in at half time, claiming the win whilst making your own films 😀

I believe the programmes will be on BBC iPlayer longterm.

I don’t know of there is a regional limitation that will prevent you seeing it from outwith the UK, but there’s ways round that by a proxy or VPN.

(Maybe someone could chime in with how to do that from the USA?)

It seems like the BBC has something against ‘mericans! It won’t let me watch much of anythinh on youtube or iplayer (which I just downloaded and installed) 😥

    Oh, Benji –

America walks over to Germany and smashes it with a barstool, winning the fight all by itself.

    😉

I watched the one hour episode last night. I found it disturbing and absorbing. How many of the interviewees would now be diagnosed with PTSD? The language they used and effort it clearly took for the words to come out was both humbling and quietly shocking to watch.

Joey, have a look at expat tv. It’s what we are using in Germany and live streaming of uk tv and i player is no problem.
