[Closed] Pro 2 evo freehub problem

I was sorting the rear wheel just now to fit the new 142 adapters and the free hub just fell out of the housing.

I know it's push fit but I'm sure it should be firmer (not the right word).

When i removed the the wheel the freehub and cassette just fell off.

Is this just a seal issue or could the hub/freehub be knackered?

Sounds like what happened to me. It was the metal axel that had snapped, causing the freehub and cassette to fall off when I removed the wheel.

I live near Hope so took a trip up and they fixed it foc, no questions asked and even replaced the pawls/springs. Hope are ace.

If that's the problem I'm sure they'd just send you a new one.

I'm confused, so is that the hub itself or the free hub body?

The axle alloy tube that runs through hub body and free hub.

Depends what he means by 'fell out'. Mosey, did it slide off the hub axle, or just drop off with not stub axle protruding from the rest of the hub body?

Oh right, I just presumed the free hub was a separate part,

I'll contact hope, not sure I understand the issue.

I've jus looked at diagram and the axle must have snapped as the free hub just pops off and there is no axle behind.

The snapped off piece of axle is probably still lodged in the freehub bearings.

You can order replacement axles from most LBS's.
If you reckon its under warranty then you should refer back to where you bought it, but failing that, IME Hope are pretty good at dealing direct with end customers - give 'em a call/email?

I've moved long since I bought it, would be a fair trip back to the lbs.

I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Oh well, I'll finish this build sometime.

Any guides online for stripping and installing the new axle?

Guessing I'll need special tools?

Edit - just watched a video and looks like it should be simple as I don't need to change the bearings etc.

I could only find pro 2 on youtube not evo, found one on Vimeo now.

Cheers, I'll order an axle.

Huh, that's supposed to be the thing the Evo fixes.

The video I just watched looked really simple, knock out the old axle, knock the bearing off place on the new axle and pop it all back together.

Northwind, yeah Hope want to see it as it is really rare for the evo axle to snap.

Won't get a chance to post but I'm up Hopes way tomorrow, wonder if I could pop in with it.

I'll go give them a call.
