Posh hotel near Yorkshire Coast...

The wife and I are looking for a few days away in October and would like something posh rather than our normal Holiday Inn fare!

Ideally no more than 25-30 mins from coast.

And an indoor pool would be nice!

Not really looking for a spa hotel as it's not really me and the wife goes to those to get away from me! 🙂

No pool, but we had a night in this place on last week's cycle tour of East Yorks and it was fabulous. Food was EXCELLENT

Not massively more expensive than the Bridlington B&B we stayed in the following night

Ignore the reviews.

On a more serious note:

Stayed in this one up near Whitby, was great.

Saltmoore - Ok, I can't say I've been, but it looks lovely and I know the area well as a friend lives oop the road from there. Sea will bit a tad chilly in October though (as it is all bloody year round).

Not stayed as it's near home but Brockley Hall in Saltburn is well reviewed and food is good.

Walking distance from the station but no pool. Need to use the leisure centre or N. Sea for swimming.

comedy. The epitome of Britannia Hotel’s tarnished brass standard. I mistakenly stayed at the one in Bromsgrove a while ago. Our toilet back flowed into the room.  They apparently couldn’t do anything and refused to refund me. I shopped them to environmental heath and then clawed back the payment through my credit card.

Again no pool and not posh but the YHA in Whitby is in the abbey which is quite cool and the one at Boggle Hole is in its own cove by the beach (you have to walk the last 1/4 mile down the hill) and has a nice cosy bar. En suite rooms if you want to go posh. Definitely worth the trip, although maybe not one intended to be posh.

Britannia site says

Internal rooms

“At the Grand Scarborough we have 97 internal rooms, labelled as ‘City’ rooms. These rooms do not have windows, but are well ventilated. Please be aware of this when booking with us.”

Maybe a little far from the coast but we absolutely love it here.

Great mix of old and new facilities, spectacular setting, good food and lovely staff.

Well you can't win them all and it is about 25m (metres not minutes) from the beach! Way better than a Holiday Inn.
