    like fernox etc.

Ive not yet put an inhibitor in our new CH system (3 months old). It has copper pipe, barrier Hep2O and aluminium radiators.

Can anyone recommend a decent mixed metal inhibitor and how to calculate how much I need to treat about 1,000 litres of water to the correct concentration?

    thanks.

Sentinel X100 is my choice, cleanse with X300 first. Are you sure the system volume is that big?

Haven’t got a bottle in front of me but they recommend 1 litre for an average system of 8 to 10 radiators.

its a thermal store fed system. 200litres in the biomass boiler, 700litres in the store.

6x low volume aluminium radiators and 500m of 16mm underfloor heating pipe.

    Ill check out sentinel, cheeers.

i’m liking the look of that, would love to have a nose sometime, but think you are a way away from me in deepest kent. One thing in the first photo you have two Grundfoss pump which are not installed correctly as the shaft is too far past the vertical. you risk shortening the life of the pumps as they use the water to cool and lubricate themselves.

sentinel site is annoying – as you say, 1 litre for ten rads etc, no use if you have a different spec.

Ill send them an email to ask about concentration and flushing with x300.

Oh and just noticed the connection box is the wrong way on one of them too!

BEar – Im in worcestershire, youd be welcome to drop in if its near enough.

Cheers for the pointers on the pumps, I can straighten them up – not my install.

they are opposing pumps. they move hot water betewen the store and the boiler to manage condensate in the burn chambers and to maintain temp in the boiler tank which is feeding the upper floor rads. The UFH and DHW comes of the store.

you’re not fooling anyone. that’s one of those machines that george clooney’s got rigged up in burn after reading isn’t it ?

    I burn socialists in it.

All that worthiness gives off a lot of hot air….

More of a query than owt but in my home radiator system I put in a mix of automotive coolant n water, including a water wetter to help heat transfer. My thoughts were that it is an antifreeze, rust preventative n has lubricating properties. It ran for over ten years with this combo so wasnt a total disaster. Anything wrong with my reasoning?
