I’ve got the misfortune of trying to buy a house in the LA with the longest delays in the country for local searches. One of the alternatives seems to be having a personal search done by a company (as I understand it, they go to the council offices and do the search for the council).Has anyone tried a personal search company that they’d recommend?

My solicitor is double checking that the lender will accept this (most seem too), but given the solicitor doesn’t normally recommend them (but are supportive in this case) i’m guessing they’re not going to come up with lots of recommendations!

The area of the country is West Berkshire.

No direct experience of using one but as a professional liability underwriter, I won’t insure them for any mistakes they might make and nor will many insurers in the market. Confer from that what you will :).
