    Hmm….

    Three proper climbs I reckon.

    1) A grindy out bit of muddy/rocky up stuff
    2) A grindy out grindy boring chug
    3) A walker dodging short sharp grassy schlep.

S*it S*it S*it & S*it me and the wife won’t be able to make it as my son has arranged a radio session at 12.00pm and the wife has to be there and I’ll look like a **** if I don’t go so sorry. I really wanted to meet some people who ride bikes as I only get to ride with the wife.

Out of adversity comes some good. Mrs S has consented to ride a bike with me today. This is a BIG deal.

    All welcome Hanky.

    I’d probably best set off.

Cheers guys. I enjoyed that. As for my little off, seems it didn’t happen. No one saw it and Chris didn’t get a picture so without proof, it didn’t happen! 😀

Big thanks to ndt and pook for arranging and looking after us!

Have you ever thought of starting an MTB holiday business, say in spain? :0

No but I once drove a Sierra.

Cheers guys, that was very mellow. I am now engaged in a modest attempt to consume everything vaguely edible in Glossop. Didn’t nab quite enough cake from the Hope Challenge feed station at the top of the Roych, though lots of eyelash fluttering, looking pathetic and optimistic name-dropping of Bradwell persons paid off 🙂

Chapel Gate is now mildly horrific as a climb btw. Third time I’ve done it recently and it doesn’t get any better.

Right, back to the food in hand…

Enjoyable ride, mainly lurking at the back with BWD. Didnt feel I had the legs to get out of Edale again so pulled up short and went over Rushup Edge – there’s a logic to that somewhere. Ignored the cakes but decided to add a quick trip through the Roych and down Beet Lane. At least I managed to end the day without crashing, mincing or dabbing a descent.

like that makes you stand out – there were about half a dozen 5 spots!

glad you all enjoyed it, look forward to the next one

Just an aside, I couldn’t help noticing how few hardtails were out today – I don’t mean that in a loaded way, I was just thinking that it’s very different from a few years back when pretty much everyone I rode with was on a hardtail and rode it fast too. Apart from me, Pook, Bruce (OAP) and a couple of others, everyone seemed to be packing 5 or 6 inches of travel front and rear. It was the same on the last one as well from Hayfield.

What’s happening to the world? Like I said, I’m not saying it’s good or bad, just interesting. Oh, and realise that I’m not exactly riding a poverty-spec bike and I have, in the past, ridden full sus a lot, and I understand that they do the job, but…

    … just seems odd.

Nice to see you again, Bruce. Us niche hardtail riders need to stick together before we’re engulfed in a full sus deluge 😉

Ourkidsam was on an on one inbred.

My FS had fewer mm of travel than nearly all the hardtails 🙂

Tell you what bwd, I’ll bring my hardtail next time. Save everyone wondering why I’ve got a bit of wood on my shock.

Why have you got a bit of wood on your shock? Sorry, I’m rubbish at noticing what people are riding generally…

What front plus rear travel? What’s happened to the Juliana then?

It’s a little home made travel indicator.

BWD I had a 456 on a previous winter Pootle. The prob is I only own one bike does it all sadly. Otherwise I’d have a hardtail as well. 🙂

Great day, vibe, banter and rain stayed away.

Who owns the 3series touring? Would love to potentially buy when you consider selling? The M3 looks too vulgar for me but yours is subtle

Everyone of you chaps noticed the pretty blonde, except my husband.

I burped in her face by accident, as we met on a very steep corner.

My line to her ‘that looks heavy’

Sams ‘are there more like you’.

I can see the winner there Sam..

She’d have been going faster than me if I was saying ‘aaaarrr prepare to be boarded mi’ luvly arrr’ chasing after her waving my Cutlass. (Pirate reference)

Do you normally burp on tight corners Jane?
