If I owned that lawnmower I would just cover it in Chrome plating…the whole thing

Similar to above, as your blasting and polishing, I’d just go with that as your finish but keeping the blade frame red.

It’ll need painting to protect the metalwork.

Got the bearing plates done overt the weekend:

Main chassis nearly stripped. Just need to get the clutch assembly off:

Managed to throw some paint over the engine. Have stripped/re-blacked all of the bolts & nuts etc.

    Starting to look better now.

I know it’s not the right colour but I had some HT paint in the shed.

Got the main frame ready to paint. Gave the rear roller a good going over with the orbital sander too, came up quite well:

I picked up an Allen Scythe late last year, a few bits and pieces and it runs – just about, I think the timing needs tweaking but on a Villiers 25C two-stroke that’s a black art and a half! I’ll post pics next time it’s out of the shed

Repair required on the collector due to quite a few cracks in the steel:

Right, I’m ready to paint 😊

    Colour chosen – primer/paint/laquer purchased.

It’s going to be green but not Atco green…

Your ATCO looks like a Suffolk Punch, I suspect that the two companies merged at one point and used that design. Lovely job.

And we have some colour 🙂 Bonus points if anyone can guess the name of the colour:

Gave the reel a sharpen on the lathe as I couldn’t get on the grinder. Stoned the bottom blade flat and sharp too:

Well, it’s certainly sharp enough. Just nearly took the tip of my finger off 🙁

Whatever you do, don’t spill petrol on the paint, it’ll melt it off almost instantly:-(

Seems a shame to go to all that trouble then not paint it the right green.

Were there any transfers on it? If you have a photo there’s a very good bike frame painter in Bury who can recreate transfers, he might be able to do them for you. Neil at Atlantic Boulevard.

    Thanks, will be careful 😉

Yeah, I did think about doing it the right colour but, as I’m gonna keep it, I fancied a colour I like B-)

There were a couple of fairly knackered ones. I’ve found a place that does the stickers for it but thanks for the heads-up 🙂
