Hiya.
Mrs S fancies a new do it all bike.
Her requirements are:
Drop bars.
STI’s.
Discs.
Low gearing.
Rear rack mounts, probably proper guards as well. These need to be simple to fit and remove, no bodges.
Wide tyres, 40 odd mm.
Stable with a load.
Okay for road, tracks and lightish off road.
Not steel or carbon.
Not a Surly.
About £1500 max.
So, frame only or full bike recommendations please.
Kona Rove AL seems to fit the bill, with cash left to stick on some lower gears and nicer wheels.
Giant Allroad might be a goer.
She’s a fan of alloy frames due to the direct feel and weight – she may be persuaded over to the steel side if the right bike appears – she likes the look of the new Sutra and Marin 4 Corners but thinks all steel bikes are unnecessarily heavy and old fashioned.
It’s a cross I have to bear.
🙂
All ideas welcome, ta.
