I have a Smith Mainline Full Face as my main helmet, and night riding season is upon us. At the moment I have an exposure joystick mounted to the side with a stick-on gopro mount. It's ok, but has some disadvantages:

The mounting position means I get Left-right but not up-down control of the light. At the moment it's too low, but the only way to fix it is rip off and reattach the mount, which costs money.

If the light is pointed too far in the beam catches my goggles and ruins my peripheral vision on that side.

Gets in the way of moving my goggles from helmet - round neck and back.

I'm also upgrading to an exposure zenith and I'm concerned about the extra weight (150g) on the side of my head.

Alternatives:

0) vent mounts are out, they're all filled with Koroyd on this helmet

1) Top mount. The weight is central and the mount is secure, but the visor will get in the way of the beam. I'd probably need some sort of extender beam to lift the light clear of the visor shadow, which would be liable to be ripped off by a low branch.

2) Visor under/over mount. R3pro sell 3d printed attachments for the visor. This is my preferred option. The visor is pretty solid so I reckon it would hold. An over mount would probably be more secure and would keep the light out my line of sight, an under mount would keep the outer profile of the helmet the same to avoid branch snags. A slight worry is that a visor mounted light (in particular something the weight of the Zenith) would rattle around/activate the TAP function. There would also be a constant weight to be held by my neck, although I'm not super concerned about that - it's probably less than the strain of being out the saddle and low over the bars.

3) Chin mount. Tbh I don't know why anyone would do this, but it's an option.

Or just leave it as is. Anyone tried these?

Given you're upgrading anyway, how about something with a separate battery pack? Lighter to go on the visor, and also shorter if you choose under-visor.

Isn't this what did for Michael Schumacher - in his case a Gopro - penetrating his head in a crash?
