I know I really need to be trying a helmet on as fit is the most important factor, BUT I just cant find one in my LB Shops, and I can save £25 online, they do this helmet in a Medium 54-57 and a large 58-61 and I am measuring my head at 57, anyone else out there any experience of this helmet and how the sizing works out?

I've heard that MET size up small. I was looking at one recently but there were lots of comments about the straps need constant adjustment so I went with a Giro again.

It is a worry, I rekon I need to get to some more shops..

I like helmets with a little more coverage like this & the Spesh vice, and the Giro Xen, ive had a Xen and it was very comfy but also really hot, this Met looks good but I just cant quite decide. 😕

I've got the Giro Xen in a medium and quite fancy a Kaos, and after trying them on found I need a large in the Met, I'm still not decided though after not getting on well with the straps.

As ever the answers seem a bit mixed, I had the medium xen too. but one says go large the other says stay medium… getting an itchy buy finger!

oxnop, is it much better vented than the Xen?

The kaos (I have the standard kaos) is better vented IMO. I only had the helmet for a few weeks then sold to my mate as I didn't like the way it looked- he then bought the UL kaos a few weeks later – so that might tell a story.

I recently went through the process of trying out a bunch of helmets, tried the Giro range and specialised range and they didn't fit me comfortably at all. So I'd definitely try the Kaos out before you give vent to that itchy finger. Ended up with a Met (again) but this time a roadie Inferno UL – most comfortable helmet I've had.

I guess this is a stupid question really, much like a what saddle and what tyre, its very subjective… I am lured to the Kaos, because its light, and looks to be a well vented Xen

The Xen did score quite highly in the fact it only had 1 removable pad so was easy to bung in the machine, BUT the pads didnt last too long, how many removable pads in the Kaos?

oxnop so you sold you Xen to a mate and he bought A Kaos after?

Yep. I had a xen and bought a kaos. My mate got the xen and then bought a kaos.

I am buying a kaos, going to take a chance on a medium as I measure up 57cm.

Thanks all you for your help.

I have had a Met Kaos for 2 years now – the standard not UL – the best fitting helmet I have ever used and I don't miss the adjustable peak on my old Giro one bit. No trouble with straps slipping at all.

I have a nice matt white one now ordered, £78.80 was the best price I could find, Fudges Cyles, shame its not in stock but I am in no rush, the £8.99 Lidl is still going strong.

As long as the Kaos doesnt boil my head like the Xen did I will be happy.

I cannot believe I have spent so much on a lid!!

    It will be worth it.

I have a Kaos UL and before buying I tried various Giros, inc the Phase, Hex and Xen which all fitted the same. I could just fit into a medium Giro, wheras a Large was a bit bulky. Large Kaos fits perfectly.
