  • Longshot: Finishing a cycletour in Venice/Mestre, bike shop to box bike required

As title, it’s a long shot on here asking for bike shop recommendations but perhaps somebody knows one thing or another.
I’m cycling from Poland and finishing my trip in Venice before flying back to the UK.
With limited time at the end of the trip, and even more limited by my Italian communication skills I’m wondering if any of you people out there know if somewhere locally that box the bike for my flight.
Any advice re accommodation in this area or alternatives to a bike specific cardboard box for flying greatly received also.
    Best wishes all.

Thetes not really anywhere to ride a bike in Venice so I doubt there’s any shops. There’ll be bike shops in Mestre which is probably as close as you’d get to Marco Polo airport. If you’re flying from treviso there’ll a few shops there too.

You should be able to get between Mestre and either airport by bus with your boxed bike

I bag the bike for the return flight in a CTC bike bag.
Remove the pedals and front wheel, turn the bars etc. the bag is small enough that you can take it on tour with you.

It’s not as protective as a box and I’ve had some minor damage but nothing that didn’t let me cycle home from the airport.

Google throws up a couple of bike shops with websites http://www.bikeproject.it & http://www.biessecicli.it

Both a walk/ride away from the main station.
