[Closed] Light & Motion ARC Li-ion Ultra - I'm confused
Had this light now for 4 years and it has been faultless. Been running it on the bars all winter and 2 weeks ago I ran the battery to flat, light went out during a ride, this is the first time the battery has been fully discharged (my own fault after forgetting to charge it following the previos 2 night rides). Fully charged battery and last week it fired up fine then the lamp went off after about 5 mins whilst still in the car park. Couldn't get the light to start up again although the power light in the switch was illuminating. tried it again 1/2 hr in to the ride and it fired up straight away but went out within a minute. Wouldn't then restart at all during the ride nor when I got home, tried it a couple of times since and same result. Anyway, last night whilst fettling in the garage I tried it again, lo and behold it started up fine, warmed up to full brightness and ran faultlessly in the garage for a good 15mins, tried it at both hi and lo settings, waggled all the cables, shook the lamp unit and battery about but everything seemed ok - wtf??? Any ideas what, if any, the fault could be?
send it back with a note explaining, their servicing is good & theres no point trying/hoping it will sort itself out cause it will just lead to abandoned rides & fustration ๐ฟ
Hmmm, service ain't that good imo. Mine had very similar fault. They said the head unit was knackered but I could have 10% off a new seca head unit and no offer of a repair. Thing is I could buy a complete seca 700 race for the same price batteries and charger included, not really looking after your customers me thinks!! I suspect they're not really interested in doing repairs as they know the LED units are far more reliable. Good luck!
More likely a battery problem. Some kinds of battery can appear to be fully charged, then drop like a stone as soon as they get any load. Our man Smudge (search for his forum name) can get you sorted out and if you need a new one will sell you one at a sensible price.
Easy to check if it's the battery, borrow another one and see if it fires up and stays on. Mine didn't ๐ฅ
Might of been just a nuiscance trip. Any more problems with it feel free to contact me and I can give it a thorough checking over for you.

Smudge - cheers for that, your testing kit portable? If so will bring it over for you next time you join the Clent Duffers (TM) for a ride (Mick Arms et al)
Well bugger me, just back from a local mince and the light has run faultlessly for 3 hours
Bet you had a entertaining ride this evening then Votchy ๐ not knowing if it was going to die on you whilst on the downhills.
I would have to have the battery for a few days for testing as I would need to put it on a soak test (this does not involve water!)
