According to inrng there is a rule that states 2 separate positive tests in the team and the team go home… Also that the UCI don’t class anyone as winner of the GC if all 21 stages aren’t complete. The winner of the tour may be someone random if there is a mass infection event in the riders. Not something that anyone wants.

With each team operating as a bubble, allowing close contact, I can’t see how a single positive test wouldn’t lead to others. Staff members sitting together in the team cars for hours at a time…

Just watching the ITV4 highlights show from yesterday. The Chris Boardman segments about cycle equipment are very entertaining. His takedown of the awful Campag Delta brakes was very funny.

I suspect the 2 strikes thing helps reduce the risk that false positives send the team home. Chance of 2 false positives in a team is very low, and 2 actual positives means it’s likely in the bubble and spreading.

Confirmed that the strike count is reset for the next set of rest day tests, so a second case for any of te four affected teams will not see them expelled
