Erm, have you read that yourself? Second paragraph:
It is certainly the case that schools whose pupils do homework tend to be more successful. However it is less clear that the homework is the reason why they are successful. A number of reviews and meta-analyses have explored this issue. There is stronger evidence that it is helpful at secondary level [see Homework (secondary)], but there is much less evidence of benefit at primary level.
What’s interesting is that I work at a selective independent primary school, and we give homework. Our results are fantastic, but it’s nothing to do with said homework. The reason we give home learning is because the parents ask for it, not because it has a positive effect, and they pay the bills.
We shouldn’t be giving homework to 6 and 7 year olds – I certainly won’t be doing so!
