Apparently…

– Email is genuinely from Amazon Marketplace
– It’s from a company from whom I bought a product and they reference that specific product in the email
– They claim to have created a new version of the product and say they’ve addressed a specific issue that the old product does actually have
– There are no dodgy links on which to click

However
– They ask me to email an address which is in an attached image
– The address is not the company’s domain, it’s 163.com which is a free Chinese email provider

So, whaddya reckon? Shall I email it or ignore? I could use a couple more of the product.

A search reveals that lots of Chinese home electronics companies have customer service emails with 163.com and they are written into Amazon listings and so on. So I’m inclined to believe it’s genuine, but I should take some precautions. Mind you, if I just email them the worst they can do is add my email to spam lists, and I’m pretty sure it’s already in loads of spammer lists anyway. Anyone else been contacted like this?

You could open a new gmail account and send the details for that. Although at some point they are going to request your real home address to send you these “freebies”.

I could check with Amazon maybe, since it’s actually from Amazon Marketplace.

If it’s something expensive, it’s probably a scam. If it’s not expensive, not worth the risk anyway.

They probably just want some reviews for the new product. Seems most reviews on Amazon are people who have got free stuff.
Probably banned by Amazon terms, so they need to put the email in an image to avoid this.

I’m disappointed.
Was hoping it was adult toys or viagra at least…
