how tough are they as a rear tyre in rocky areas (Peak District/Lakes etc)

Looks like what I have on my 2011 RRs, not that tough (i have a bit of wall damage from not too tough use), wear down quick, but light and quick/roll fast

For that sort of terrain, what you need is Maxxis Advantages – 2.4 EXO

Thought I’d heard there was a new Ralph for 2013, that’s the old/current one, but can’t see anything on it. Worth getting the Snakeskin ones if you ride somewhere rocky, save your sidewalls.

Surely RRs are not designed for the Lakes and Peaks? They are great tyres for down south, Thetford, Sherwood Pines, XC racing etc but not for northern trail riding where speed up and along is not the essence.

I got away with a pair on the Trans Wales that has some sharp rock moments and considered myself pretty lucky.

I wouldn’t dare run Ralph’s in the Peak but I have run Nic’s no prob

I’ve run a rocket ron in the peak no problem. I am now running X kings with supersonic sidewalls
