Been invited for an informal chat regarding a part time weekend job for an outside based role.
As they've mentioned its an informal chat should I still wear a suite (as I would for a 'normal' interview) or is that overkill?
I don't know the people, simply sent my CV in response to advert online.
If a suite is too much, perhaps, just shirt, trousers and shoes (+ pants and socks!)
Any views?
I'd treat it as an interview and wear a suit, informal or not. It shows you're taking it seriously and prepared to make an effort.
I wouldn't wear a suite, the settee might not fit in the lift.

Depends on the type of outside based role. If you're going for a job marking out football pitches then a suit might be a bit overkill.

I wanted that one, dammit!
Anyway, it depends on the role a bit but if in doubt I'd say err on the side of smart and go for the suit.
Casual but smart..... polo shirt would be fine or xmas jumper, no jeans, casual trousers and clean shoes, not trainers. Clean pants and socks as well. Smart outdoor jacket.
I'm tempted to edit the suite above 🙂
I'd wear a suit and shirt but no tie.
It's quite acceptable to walk around dressed like that normally when you're not at work. I was dressed like that last night at Strictly come dancing. I seemed to be the only bloke who made an effort.
I’m going to say no suit but smart.
I recruit for office based jobs where it is suits all the way 5 days a week but when people come in to see me informally pre interview I don’t mind them not being in a suit maybe prefer it. The whole point is that you can have a more open conversation and get a feel for what people are like. You don’t get that in an interview environment when it is all suits and work focused questions.
I would wear the suit, that way you won't worry about being under dressed plus gives you a great opening line " I don't normal wear a suite but .......... "
I'd wear a suit and shirt but no tie.
I'd go with this if its an office based job.
Although, I went for an interview for a managerial role at a famous betting company once (they'd read my CV) and when I turned up in a suit they asked me "are you meeting a client after this, you seem to be dressed for the occasion?" 😐

Never do that. Always give the impression your smart / self respecting enough to want to present yourself correctly at all times, don't make an excuse / find a reason to let them know youo might not.
If the ask the question, a better answer would be that you felt the attire was appropriate for the occasion, demonstrating an awareness of the scenario / professionalism.

If this doesn't work, I'd wear a suit.
Don't wear a replica TDF Yellow Jersey - if the interviewer is a keen roadie this would make him massively angry because you didn't earn it.
