Have a new bb coming. Can’t seem to find the answer online. I presume I do not need to fit the wavy washer to a sram force crank when using a hope pressfit bb?

If it’s a GXP crank you will still need the washer.

yes GXP crank – I thought the washer was to hold the seal in place on the gxp bb, hence why I was thinking it might not be needed on a hope bb with the gxp conversion.

I suppose worse case, it’ll be too tight and bind and I’ll have to take it back off

My Hope/GXP combo was binding a bit so I removed the wavy washer. Doesn’t appear to have made any difference and BB has survived a winter of CX racing.

Still binds a bit though, just enough that the cranks won’t spin freely for very long when you give them a spin. Don’t notice when I’m riding.

surely the binding is costing you a good few watts?

I have used sram gxp cranks in a Hope bb with no wavy washer and it worked fine. I am sure it is only needed for non-captive seals like the ones with Enduro bearings.
