Hope floating rotor rubbing caliper

Got a slight issue where my hope floating disc rotor is rubbing on an XT M8000 caliper even though it is otherwise correctly adjusted. Its one of the rivets between the spider and the disc that sits slightly higher than the others, though they are all pretty close. Anyone come across this, is there an easy answer?

Well, the video is utterly useless from a diagnosis POV, but assuming the rivet is rubbing on one of the post mounts, I’ve had the same with several brakes when using FR. I filed 1.5mm from the calliper mount and painted it to prevent oxidisation. It now works perfectly.

Tends to happen when you are not using Hope hubs.

These are on Hope Pro2’s, for now I have just moved the caliper over a fraction, as its the lower mount part of the caliper that touches the disc.

Yep,also had this, get the file out or use ordinary rotors.
You wont do any harm by filing just make sure you clean up the caliper when you have done.

Yeah, it’s not the hub type that causes the problem, it’s the extra width of the rotor. I’ve seen other folk with Hope hubs, Hope floating rotors and non-Hope calipers have the same issue. It’s almost like Hope developed their own “standard”.

I gave up using hopes floating rotors on my xtr brakes! They simply don’t fit due to the size of the floating rivot 🙁 would always catch the body of the calliper… same on my formula brakes too

what they say pretty common though i think the cause is not using Hope mounts

Like others I just filled away a part of the mount till it missed it

They do that. Five minutes with an angle grinder on the caliper sorts it (I’ve ‘fixed’ 3 sets of brakes).

You don’t even need an angle grinder, the aluminium is so soft, a file will take a mm off in less than a minute.

Yeah file will do it, 5 min job,Hope mount won’t help as it’s the caliper tabs that hit the rivets.
