Just had Sky (BT phone) installed. New wireless modem etc. My laptop hooked up fine to it as did my iPhone. No problems at all.

Mrs PP has a work laptop which just will not connect to the new modem. It will connect to someone else's unsecured (But unreliable!) network first time. It can find the signal, it asks for the password, but it won't connect…

    Any ideas??

My guess is you're using a type of encryption that the work lappy doesn't like. Start by having the network open (no security at all), then build back up from there.

does Mrs PP work for the government or some other corporation who don't understand what patching is? Before XP SP2, WPA doesn't work very well at all.

Samurai, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, sorry! Me no speak computer BS!

Although, as if by magic, it decided to connect of it's own accord. Spooky.

My guess is you were typing the password wrong. Not being patronising, it's inordinately easy to do.
