I'm trying to fit an e13 chain guide. The top of the guide lines up with the chain ring, but the chain guide bolts cathch on the threads for the (now removed) grany ring and stop the crank from turning.

Is there a simple solution or will I need a whole new crank?

    Ta.

    ISCG fitting?

Quite common to grind the granny ring bits down.

I'm using the ISCG adapter behind the BB.

This isn't really an option for me, are there any others?

Why can't you grind the cranks down?

    Is it a Hollowtech2 setup?

I don't fancy grinding the crank as I don't really know what I'd be doing and don't fancy getting it wrong.

If I've no other choice I'll get a new crank (which I was planning to do, but not just yet) and put this crank on a different bike (as a triple ring again). Thanks anyhow

Its not complicated, but there are sometimes other options.

    Using one of these?

You can run it the other way round, or run a spacer between the plate and the bottom bracket cup.

If the chain guide is only meant for a single chainring, it needs single chainring cranks. Have hacksawed/ground off the granny ring bolt holes, it will clear the backing plate.
I had this problem with a set of Truvativ Hussefelt cranks. Works fine now.. Oh and don"t use a normalchainring,it will have to be a "single" specific ring as the shifting ramps with foul on the backplate/plastic guides.

Woops, better remove my Saints and XTs then- still with granny ring mounts intact 😉

Ok well…..designed to take… just for the clearance??

Are there washers on the chain guide bolts?

Removing them fixed this issue for me with a different chain guide.

Get a BB mount back plate. Simples.
