So i have took the cassette off my old wheelset to fit to my new ones. I made sure the new set had sram hd fitting. But my cassette will not fit. The end screw on part has nowhere to screw onto. Do i need a different end to fit on or a whole new cassette?

Do you mean the Sram XD 11sp system?

There should be threads towards the inboard side of the freehub which mate with the cassette.

Yes thats the one. Nowhere for the end part to screw on to. I think there is a piece missing from the hub.

That’s all you need. Cassette just screws onto the threads near the back.

Now are you sure you have an XD cassette? Locking ring splines should be part of the 10T sprocket, not a separate lockring like a conventional shimano type.

Is that 10 speed? Hard to tell as it’s filthy but that looks like a 10 speed with a separate lock ring so you need a shimano style freehub if so.

just adjusted my screen and it looks like you have 10 sprockets but the smallest has 13T, have you got the smallest 11T missing and it’s really an 11-42T NX cassette with shimano fit not XD which is 10-42T?

Or I am counting wrong and it’s just a 10 speed and the 11T is missing.

and no, that looks like an NX level cassette which doesnt use an XD freehub as it only has an 11T smallest sprocket unlike XD which have 10T.

It is probably so dirty as they are often mistaken for boat anchors. 538g!!!!

You can pick up a much lighter 10-42T GX cassette (XD fitting) for £75-80 or try and find a new freehub. I know which I would rather do as a GX is a smidge under 400g.

Would you recommend a new chain with a new cassette? You are right this a right lump, weighs a ton.

always. Chain is only £11-20. False economy to try and re-use one unless both it and the cassette are quite new.

XG 1150 is the cassette you want. NX or GX sram 11 speed chain should be fine and cheap. XG 1175 is lighter again (325g as it has an aluminium 42T but it’s OEM only or buy from one place in Italy for 150 euros which is quite reasonable compared to a XG 1180).
