Anyone else out there had trouble just getting wire beaded tyres onto Mavic Crosslands?

The Crosslands are on my commuter bike and I’ve tried both Panaracer Crosstown 1.5s and Geax Street Runner 1.25s.

Gave up after lot of swearing on the Geax and eventually got the Panaracer on the rim (had to use so much pressure I thought I was going to buckle the wheel!).Have now also exposed some of the bead wire!

What tips/advice do you have for fitting really tight tyres to rims?

    Thanks

Never done Crosslands, but one tip is to start fitting the tyre opposite the valve, if you start at the valve then the bead can’t drop fully into the well of the rim, and therefore will restrict how much slack is then available to push over the opposite side of the rim.I’ve used this method bare handed to fit tyres others have snapped levers and given up on(and i’m a weakling too).
