Ton, I'm one of the organisers. It'll be the train for a lot of folk I guess. A lot of people entered are Edinburgh or central belt locations, so getting back down might not be a problem.
Always enjoyed your chat on here so please come and say hello at the start!
All the best
Fraser

I'd suggest that you don't use the trainline tbh Ton, I've booked the bikes on trains a few times, and always phone Scotrail booking direct - 0344 811 0141 - as then I'm as sure as I can be that I've actually got the bike booked on.

I booked our trains to Carlisle last week from Glasgow, and space was at a premium then. We'll get into Carlisle at 18.30 which is a bit earlier than I wanted, but it's all I could get. I'll be keeping an eye out for ye Ton.

Not 'ride to the sun' specific, but have just returned from an Avenue Verte trip to Paris (where we rode both ways). We shared the outbound ferry with about 30 other cyclists, but we were the only ones coming back. It may be that most people get the train back, or it may be that most people come back on a different day, but riding both ways was easier, logistically (despite having to ride back from the ferry late at night)

Quite fancy the 'ride to the sun', next year, though, so will be thinking about logistics.

Tony, 90% certain of doing this.

Think the plan will be to ride back after breakfast and a snooze on the beach.

A few folk had some shuteye in the church hall where the bacon sarnies are served, but we have to get kicked out at 6.30am unfortunately.
There's enough grass just off the prom that you could lie down and get some there, or there's some shelter under the trees by the public toilets.

That sounds awesome, speshly if you've just been released from prison. ๐Ÿ˜•

Ha ha...I wasn't recommending it...just offering the best option. A quiet corner of the church hall would be best. F

Sounds a plan big fella, I've got a wee train to Glasgow and then 45 home on another train from there, time to sleep it off... ๐Ÿ˜†

Although, if I fall asleep, I'm pretty much at the end of the line, your train will go to Penzance!

Folks
One guy from Manchester has got in touch to say that he's leaving his van in Cramond before heading to the start and could take up to 7-8 folk back to Carlisle on the Sunday morning. Let me know if anyone wants his email address.
Cheers
Fraser
