My son (5 year old) has taken well to cycling and has outgrown his current bike, which is a 14" fixed speed (he struggles to keep up with his older brother and his legs spin like an egg whisk when he goes downhill).

Looking for a 16" geared bike. Struggling to find anything either at LBS or online. Any ideas ?

think problem might be that with a 16" wheel the rear mech is just too close to the ground - i couldn't find one

my 7 yr old is small and still wears 5-6yr old clothes at start of summer got her a specialized hotrock 20 - thats a 20" wheel with low standover - took the reflector off the seat post and cut it down so would drop to top of frame - good bike for the money

Isla Bike Beinn 20. Brilliant bike, 6 gears and brilliant quality, plus it has 20inch wheels so you have a massive range of tyre choice.

my five year old has got a 20" wheeled hotrock - he is big for his age though.

he struggles a bit to change gear though, I need to have a look at the shifter/ cables I think (bike was s/h)
