Trying to load a route onto my Garmin and just get a syncing error message.
Is it just me or has Garmin Connect/Express thrown a wobbler again?

Just downloaded last night's tracklog using Garmin express and it's showing up in Garmin Connect OK.

I've given up even trying to use Garmin Connect. I always do a manual upload to Strava

I also cannot load a route onto Garmin from Garmin Express.
I can however load routes onto Garmin Express from the Garmin.
Any ideas?

Still the same for me.
Loaded yesterdays ride from the Garmin fine, but still can't transfer a ride back to the Garmin.

Working OK here. Out for a ride earlier, plugged in my Oregon and went for a shower. It uploaded to Connect and then to Strava by the time I was dry.

Using a fenix 3 i can't for the life of me make it upload automatically to strava. When I connect to connect it uploads but never ends up showing in strava however long I wait.

Works for me getting rides from the device to the internet via Garmin Express

Doesn't work for getting routes from Garmin Connect to the device - like others have said, I get an error syncing message when I plug the device in. Had to delete everything from Connect and old rides from the device and re-install to get rid of the message (possibly that was overkill).

Now it works fine for just getting data from the device.

To upload routes etc., go direct via the filesystem not via Garmin Connect and it seems to work.

The problem appears to be how Connect and Express communicate with each other.

Just found this on the Garmin forum.
Posted by one of their support team.

We recently found an issue where courses created in Garmin Connect from existing tracks are failing to transfer. We are working to correct the issue but we do not have an estimated time until we have a fix.

try disconnecting and reconnect in strava settings.

Can you tell me in very simple terms how I do this please

Garmin connect - download as gpx instead of send to device
Open Garmin on your PC/Mac file explorer

Drag gpx into "new files" folder.

Job done (on an edge at least)

Garmin are such a shower. First two things I try on my Edge Touring - load a previous track and update the mapping. Neither work.

I don't seem to get this option.
I get send to device or share.
Where should I be looking?

1. Plot your route in any software that is not Garmin WontConnect. I use Strava.

2. Export the route as a .gpx file, give it a meaningful filename and save it to your desktop.

3. Plug in your Garmin.

4. Open Windows File Explorer and drag and drop the .gpx file into the New Files folder in the Garmin.

5. Sit back, light your pipe and admire your handiwork.

Cheers for trying to help though.

Thanks hedben.
I know how to do that but I only have the route I want to load on Connect. 😐

Garmin - Hardware good, support good, software shite.

If you know the route I think the best option will be to create it again using a suitable programme - I tend to use 'Where's the path'. Of course if you want the stats you're stuffed.

When it does work just find all your routes (convert them to GPX files if necessary) and put them in a folder well away from Garmin.

Stu - I think you've saved this as a 'course' already looking at your address bar (connect.garmin.com/modern/course). Go back to the original 'activity' and you should have the option.

If you're creating it by plotting it manually in Garmin Connect you're stuffed and need to start again.

Garmin - Hardware good, support good, software shite.

shite, and consistently so. They throw away the shite software they have, build something that seems to be completely new that needs to be completely relearnt and is just as poor and buggy as what went before. Same with their firmware - i don't understand how they manage to release stuff that hasn't fixed the things they say it has

It's only a short route - just plot it again in Strava or something.

Just figured that out.
However when i paste it into New File it still doesn't show on my Garmin.
Even more confusing, when I connect the Garmin and look at the files through File Explorer it shows it as being there.
Everything works as normal with a route i've used that I've not copied from Connect (copied from a GPX on here).Just copied the route and pasted it in to new folders and it all shows up and works.
I can only assume that Connect is more ****ed up than I though.

It's only a short route

That's just a screengrab and not the route I want.

There is an addon for Chrome browser that will let you export a course as a GPX file. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gpx-downloader/dpamipdfplcigmapcdgckimdgpgjidcl?hl=en

Though probably easier just to draw the route in Strava in the first place...

😕 Not working for me atm, I can upload my activities to GC but not download a course to my Edge 800. I will try remapping the course in something other than GC and then download it.
