[Closed] Front mech shims, anyone got any spare?

Does anyone have any shims for a front mech lurking in a spares drawer anywhere? Thought I'd ask here before buying some.

I'm building up a bike for a good friend from parts I have or been given and need some shims amongst other things I haven't found yet.

Thanks

I've definitely got one. Although they come in 2's only one needed when I did a frame swap the other year. Ooh, actually it's in my van, so I could go and measure it now to check it's the right size. Not sure it'd matter that much thought because they are plastic and pretty flexible. Give me 10 minutes...

@5plusn8 over the past year/year and a bit I've begun building bikes to give to people that need them in my local area. No reason for it, other than giving something back and gives me something to do in my spare time. All usually done from free parts, scrap bikes or as cheap as I can find them at the time. Over the past year or so I've built/rebuilt/rehomed/given away 6 or 7 adult bikes and 9 or 10 kids bikes of varying ages. Better than landfill or scrap and gives the bikes a new lease of life and hopefully joy and happiness to the users. So parts and consumables are always needed lol. I'm also upgrading my kids bikes slowly so always looking for some parts for their bikes too.

Wheelsonfire is sending me a list of parts he has that might be useful but would also be interested in anything you might have too if that's ok?

I'll have a hunt through my spares box and see what I no longer need and you're welcome to it. I'll drop you a list, no point sending you stuff that you don't want. Much prefer it going to a good home rather than sitting in my shed.

You'll probably get the shim today @gnusmas, I missed the Wednesday collection so it'll have gone yesterday, first class.

I got a couple of bits that I can send if wanted.

On One OG bars, unused

Shimano 11-36 cassette, used but usable. It has a pro 2 evo free hub stuck in it, so that'll have to be removed.

2x160mm discs - used

1x180mm disc unused

Some disc screws and a couple of caliper mount adapters

And a San Marco saddle (a road saddle, and a bit on the firm side)

@gnusmas, I have some stuff I can send. A bag of old bits from different lockdown projects. I'll sift through it and pull out the useful stuff. I was going to give it all to a local bike charity but I'd guess they're swamped and I'll save them the job of sorting it. PM me your address.

Well this has taken an unexpected turn, I honestly don't know what to say. I'm completely blown away again by all your generosity, thankyou so much.

@tthew shim has turned up, thankyou very much. Will hopefully get on with the bike tonight all being well.

@5plusn8 honestly, a reverb? You sure? That's amazingly kind of you, thank you. I'm in touch with Ambrose pretty regularly so no worries there. Again, thankyou.

@StuF very kind of you too, thank you very much.

@andy5390 that is amazing too, if you're sure and you definitely don't want them, they would be amazing. Thankyou so much

@jimmy that would be brilliant, thankyou so much. Will PM you shortly.

Looking forward to getting some more bikes done and hopefully making more people happy, and all of this will certainly make things a lot easier and should be able to get them done a bit quicker now too. Thankyou all again

a) its old - hydraulic line goes in the top.
b) its in dire need of a service, sot of service is approx same as a new brand x post.
c) Hooray for Ambrose as he is doing the work.

I also have:
26" rims
26" x 2.1 minions
26" x 2.36 swamp things
152mm square taper cranks
165mm mega exo cranks - will fit shimano bottom bracket.

Do you want any of them too?
If so PM me your address.

Not a problem. I've tried selling some of it before, with no interest, then I saw this thread.

Having read some of the stuff you've been through this past year or so, and being unable to find suitable words of support, I think a few quid spent on posting this lot is money well spent if it can help you in some small way. Good luck with what you're doing.

PM me an address, and I'll get it all posted after the bank holiday
