I thought I'd saved an old thread where this was discussed but can't find the blinking thing.
Also post Brexit who still posts to Uk, charge VAT their end, minimum spend etc etc?

Pre Brexit I used to use Rosebikes & Bike-discount.

Cheers

I have used Bikester --- the price you see is the price you pay

and Bike-discount -- minimum spend of £175 not including the VAT (which will not be shown on the wensite price. You then need to pay 20% vat and a £12 handling fee on import. I have yet to pay any additional duty other than the vat.

R2 bike

€7 postage to the U.K. Always arrives within 3 or 4 days.

I just got a pair of DT Swiss EX511 rims for around £100. The cheapest I could find here was around £80 each.

Make sure the order comes to £135 or less.

@ colp & monkeysfeet

Took a punt on r2 bike.
£60 order, no VAT added their end from what I could see so will get charged this end plus handling fee?

Cheers

I've not had any extra added charges. I last bought some fat bike wheels from Bike24 for £330 about 3 weeks ago. All extra charges were added at the point of sale.

Mantel are great, super fast delivery, but don't have as much stuff as some others.

Timely, just ordered a part from R2 at €165.97, paid €12.50 for UPS delivery.

Just now I’ve been advised by UPS there is a further £43.86 to pay, agency and government charges apparently. No ides what that is but it seems to lack transparency.

So no cheaper than uk it turns out…

Edit, R2 was the only seller that said they would ship this particlaur part to the UK. (Charger Damper)

Slightly different setup as they 'technically' sell via their UK arm but Bikeinn are great.

The price you see if the price you pay, just like buying from a UK shop though.

Postage takes a while but lots of good stuff and good prices.

I've placed two orders with R2Bike recently (drivetrain parts both times) and they delivered within 3-4 days and no additional tax to pay.

@ rockhopper
I think with yours it does say that when you look at the postage part, if you are above the 135 spend you get the extra fees.
Just confused with mine as it was below the limit.
I'll check the order again to see if it's changed.

I use R2-Bike, including over the £135 limit or whatever it is. Have been charged duty + VAT on import and has ended up cheaper than buying those parts in the UK (plus available). They have removed VAT on the purchase. It’s been say 4-5 working days to get here.

I’ve had several orders from R2, as long as you keep it under £135 you shouldn’t pay any VAT or duty. DHL delivery is €7 and reliably quick.

Just ordered an SlX M7100 rear mech from R2-bikes for under £45 inc p&p, fingers crossed.
Should I do a PSA or does this count.

I’ve also read somewhere not to use UPS as the carrier, they seem more inclined to demand duty etc.

Bikester have been good for me, and Holland Bike Shop ( https://hollandbikeshop.com/) who are great for hard to find spares and odd sized chainrings etc

I've used R2 and bikeinn regularly for orders under €135 for orders over €135 I try to split the order up if I can and take the extra postage fees.

Items/orders over €135 I now stick to the UK shops as it's not been cost effective when adding in the vat/duty/fees. Unless it's something that's unavailable here...

Placed 2 orders with R2 at the beginning of the week both under 135. Waiting to see when they are delivered and if there is any thing else to pay...

Just received my mech from R2-bike, ordered very late Thursday night, pretty damn good considering it's over the weekend, no demand for extra fees, free Haribo and a sticker, all good so far, saved £20 compared to cheapest UK price.

Checked my tracking and it's showing delayed at customs so I'm expecting fees lol.
The order was €65 🤷‍♂️

I just checked my order as well.

Mines passed through customs but there was a message saying there were up to 2 day delays in customs because of disruption so you may not get charged.

No idea about the vat, the info on the product page said "including 0% vat" under the product price, I paid that price plus €7.50 p&p, came to €49.10 converted to a little under £45 by their weird use of paypal method when using debit card.
My tracking went quiet for a day or two between exported and arrived in UK.

Bit of an update.

Now placed 2 orders with r2bike.
All good, both orders under £€135 whichever the limit is.
No Vat paid, only slight issue was both times Parcel Force had to redeliver due to the address being a bit mixed up due to how you register details with r2bike.

I was a bit worried about the address thing with the street name being before the number but the label on the box had it all the right way.

It’s a German/Austrian thing.
Street then house number

Well it confused the parcel force driver enough both times to say they couldn't find the house lol so once I'd filled in the redelivery details on parcel force site with our address as normally laid out all was good.
Have 'tweaked' details with r2 to see if that helps in the future!

I just bought Linkglide from
Muziker

No import duty or VAT added by UPS

Big downside was the P&P at £25 it was here quickly though
