    Bit of a basic question I expect….
07 Enduro – with the E150 (I think) big forks.
It is getting a little 'notchy', so I need to replace the headset on my Enduro – never done one before, and have no idea what the 'spec' is and how to buy. I'm pretty good mechanicaly, but does it need any special tools to remove old one?

Any recomendations – not looking to spend a fortune on the best of the best, but want a decent option (probably from CRC as I have a basket of other stuff!)
    cheers

You are supposed to use special tools but you can make do with a rubber mallet a decent size screwdriver and a block of wood.

It might be worth just taking it apart cleaning and regreasing it.

Nothing too specialised to remove it, a length of tubing(about steerer tube diameter)is least likely to damage anything when knocking the cups out of the frame, but any type of drift will do the job.A wideish sharp tipped flat screwdriver to remove the crown race from the fork, unless you're lucky and its a split one, or unlucky and it's a square edged one(designed by idiots who never thought of removal), in which case you'll need to perservere with a Stanley blade or similar.
Refitting ideally needs a press(bought or home made)to put the cups in, though somebody will soon tell you about hammering them in with a block of wood, and non split crown races need some form of slide hammer to refit.
Edit-looks like AndyM beat me to the hammering in with a block of wood, damn my slow typing.

Or you could get a headset and ask your local bike shop to press in the cups for a couple of quid.
