[Closed] Electrotrickery - Getting my Shimano Steps eBike to talk to my Garmin

Have a bike with a Steps e8000 motor and an e8000 display and a Garmin Edge Explore GPS

The GPS has an option to a Shimano Steps data screen to it, and in the add sensors list you can choose "eBike"

I have tried adding the ebike sensor while the bike is in bluetooth connect mode but it isn't happening. The bluetooth does work as I can connect my phone to the bike to edit power modes etc

Some reading suggest that it would work if I removed the display and added a EW-EN100 bluetooth transmitter, though some folk (on the internet) say they got it working without that.

Anyone had any experience with this?
