Here in Wilts the sky just cleared enough for a bodged pinhole to show the crescent. Yay.

(edit) And a neighbour is celebrating with a smokey garden fire: how truly Wessex.

Looked like a dull Glasgow morning here. We’re going to make it a weekly thing

Exactly the right amount of clouds for a perfect view here in Gloucestershire.

    Cracking.

Hardly went dark here in Brizzle. Nothing like as dark in 1999. Bit of an anti-climax tbh.

Went very dull up here almost colourless.

Same here – clouds made it dead easy to look at! Bit gloomy but nowhere near ’99.

Peering through 2 pairs of sunglasses gave an excellent view in my office. Nobody had thought to do the same so had to hand them round to over 30 people, hope I don’t get headlice!!

Remarkably light where I am in Suffolk.

The birds didn’t seem to even notice.

Agree with the above not as good as 99.

Fife had a good amount of cloud cover (theres **** surprise) but it meant the eclipse was easily watched without filters.

I thought it would go darker too. The local birds obviously thought it had mind, they went very noisy.

Wonderful clear skies near Cannock Chase:

    Remarkably undark, really.

yes, but interesting tones of light.
Just remembered I have an old x-ray film in my office (mine) to use as a filter, took it out to where I could see the sun and could have made a fortune charging for views. Great stuff.

Don’t worry people, I’ve sacrificed a few hundred virgins and now the sun’s returning.

It’s was tricky finding them but fortunately there’s a Forbidden Planet round the corner.

Cloudy in Newcastle. About 150 people standing in Times Square about to be disappointed

    Well we weren’t disappointed.

That was brilliant. Nothing like seeing the solar system in action.

If you thought it was boring or dull, you’re dead to me.

You were in the wrong part of Fife ,it was perfect in StAndrews 😛

Seagulls went a bit noisy, but it didn’t get as dark as in 99.

Nowhere near as clear as 99 but we got a good view from the roof of our office in central glasgow. The cloud completely obscured it at points then filtered enough to make it viewable with a couple of brief completely clear spells. Awe inspiring viewing.

Just getting off the M1 onto the slip road and a bird flew straight into my windscreen, which is rare and startled me a bit. Just getting towards the roundabout on the same slip road and another flew within a foot of the windscreen. Just weird. I think the birds must be a bit confused 😕

Didn’t get any good pictures, although a friendly neighborhood cat decided to come and play with the projection from my binoculars!

The darkness was really noticeable here, especially when I went back out 10 minutes later, noticed the brightness again.
