Difficult to get the compound I'm after in UST, thinking about trying a standard single ply HR.

Would be on UST or tubeless specific rims.

    Good or bad idea?

Yes and even the kevlar folding ones work well.

Ran for 6 months without a single problem. 2.1 single plys on 717s. Going back to them after numerous other tyres. Maxxis UST is overkill unless you're a downhiller or brutal rider.

Are you talking about using a rim strip or just trying to inflate it straight on?

My 2.35 single ply kevlar ones have seated and sealed well on crossmax ST rims.
However, I ripped a hole in the front sidewall (this was in Verbier mind), so not bomb proof. I suspect the UST ones will be more tear resistant – how important this is will depend on the type of trails you ride.

Was going to try it bareback on an 819.

Worked great ghetto on 5.1s and Syncros ds28s for me.
