So, schools started and we’ve realised it would be helpful to fill up the freezer with lots of homemade food so that meals can be served up quickly. I’m now on the search for ideas and inspiration for kiddy and freezer friendly dishes (rules out spicy or to ‘interesting’ grrrr) . So far I’ve got:
bolognaise / ragu type tomato sauce
    pizza
    fish chowder
    sausage stew
    mini pies
    soup

there must be loads of things, but need some help…cheers.

Depending on your kids chilli con carne and curry freeze well.

Edit: just saw the bit about spicy foods, so forget what I said!

    Borlotti Bean Pasta Sauce

    1 x Big carrot
    1 x Big spud
    1 x Big leek

Dice and fry off until soft with herbs that the kids will eat (sage, oregano, basil, rosemary etc)

Add 1 carton of tomato pasata
Add 1 pint of veg stock

Simmer for about 20 mins with lid on.

Add 1 x 400g tin of Borlotti beans (drained)

Simmer for a further 20 mins with lid on.

    Split into 3 and freeze.

Serve with pasta and sprinkle with cheese.

It is our standard “15 minute tea”.

    Fish pie
Mild chilli (can serve with sour cream to take any heat out)
    Beef stew (edit: with dumplings)
    Meatballs

You could consider a slow cooker too – prepare the night before, turn on before leaving the house in the morning, ready by the time you get home. You can keep topping it up too.

Grated carrot and finely chopped veg is the key. Make a pasta dish I.e. spaghetti bolognaise, and just whack in loads of really small veg. they just wolf it down and don’t even realise the good stuff is there, bless em. 😀

Fish pie is also a good one, shepherds pie, or cheesy veggie pasta as well.

because mine doesn’t. Can’t be arsed with the battle either. She’s starving when she’s back from school and seems a bit harsh to try and force her to eat something she really doesn’t like. I think with spicy stuff that’s fair enough, it’s not an annoying pickyness that you get with other stuff.
wish she did though, would widen the choices somewhat.

….but it solves lots of problems – over population, lack of food and filling up cemeteries.
