Ive just removed a pond in the garden that was about 4ft square and 2ft deep. I want to fill the hole in and lay a concrete base for a shed. Any ideas as what i need to do with regards to filling the hole. Any help gratefully recieved.

Hardcore. That’s crushed rock/brick, not pron.

Instead of concrete do you not fancy using something like this plastic grid? That’s what I’ll be using instead of messing around with concrete.

we used probase tiles – http://www.shedbase.com/probase/
    – there are quite a few suppliers of similar stuff,

another idea would be to ebay or gumtree for plastic pallets as you can sit stuff on them.

if the shed had a solid base you can get a prebuilt standard sizes wooden kit that sits on spikes

I’ve also seen old railway sleepers used (and concrete posts)

Not sure how heavy it is but its not a big shed. I think its 7’x4′.

You’ll need to pack down the hardcore very, very well filling in an old pond site otherwise there’s a risk it may start sinking in the coming months/years.

I know this from experience 🙁

It would be a shed with a basement if it was me.

It’s a 7×4 shed. Fill the hole with whatever, stamp the surface firm then plonk shed on top.

But as piedi di formaggio says, fill it with something solid.
