[Closed] Clamping a carbon post in a workstand?

I've always done it, apparently I shouldn't.

Not talking about a death grip here, just enough to keep it from moving...

Have I risked terminal failure and sharp carbon in my ass, or carry on as you were?

Probably a lot less stress than a fat ass thumping it on a bad landing. If done and clamped in a reasonable matter, should be fine.

Given half the stories of mechanical ineptitude on here it's only wise to recommend against it. If, like me, however you have the hands of a lover and not those of a gorilla then you should be fine.

Tensioned just enough shouldnt be an issue especially as the clamping area is a lot bigger than a seat clamp.

Shop bike mechanic here, have clamped them in a workstand since they made them out of carbon no worries, never ever clamp a frame tube in a workstand and be a bit careful with aero posts and isp's.

good stuff, I just read in my bike manual it was a big no no so this is a relief...
