Christmas present from my daughter and her partner. They live in Bristol and are always brining me samples from the city’s breweries to try. Some of these I’ve had before, and some are new. Wiper &True, Left handed giant, Arbor, Good chemistry brewing. It’s a tough life!

    What beer are you drinking?

Just heading to bar but currently finishing a Hobgoblin. Want to watch the footy but too tired to be arsed driving.

I’m hoping for a nice cold, crisp IPA at the bar

Looks interesting. What brewery is that? I see the Vocation glass but doesn’t look like one of their brews. Not wholly convinced about glitter as a brewing ingredient mind…

Punk IPA is my ‘cooking beer’ a reliable supermarket go to when I’ve drunk all my ‘posh’ beer. At 19p a can I’d have hired an artic!

It’s from my local, Beermats Brewing Co.

Yeah the glitter thing is obviously a novelty, and I wouldn’t drink it all the time, but it’s a nice drinkable IPA which added a bit of festive sparkle.

A kind customer gave me a selection of Cromarty brewery finest last week.

Came in hungry this afternoon after a day tramping around and quaffed an AKA IPA. Narcotic goodness 🙂

Helles lager and wheat beer for later.

Their strong wheat beer is tremendous too.

it was so obviously a mis-price (packs of 24 for the price of 4) that I didn’t think I’d get any. I just kept hitting + until i reached free shipping amount then went through checkout fast (as I figured they’d run out). Its only when they arrived that I realised quite how many there were

it was actually the gluten free punk, which was a bit of a gable, but turned out to be nicer than the normal stuff

18 cans of Fosters. A gift from a neighbour. Tastes alright.

    Well that was slightly disappointing.

    Doom Bar, morreti, strongbow

I mostly had Strongbow but whilst it was ok, it wasn’t exactly my preference

This should last a few days. Couple of local breweries and some of Aldi and Lidl’s finest.

Makes you all sparkly the following morning!

(Not convinced about more micro-plastics being added deliberately to the sewage system though)

Fear not, it’s made with Gum Arabic (hardened tree sap) and tylose powder (cellulose based)

Loads of beer and wine left but not sure I can be arsed drinking much/any of it!

A few days absistence now I think, until NY.

I’ve not even drunk that much – exercised a pretty high degree of self control Xmas eve /Xmas day /boxing day so quite pleased with myself this year.

Worth it too. Had an absolutely awesome, awesome ride yesterday morning.

I probably wouldn’t have if I’d spent the past few days hammering drinks down.

My daughters boyfriend got me a new Kwaremont glass to replace my broken favourite plus 3 bottles of the beer. Told her this one is a keeper. 😁

Whatever’s on the guest pumps in my favourite local pubs. Or, at home, Hawkshead Mosaic or Proper Job in bottles.

Beer in cans is substandard no matter how much you pay for it or how niche it is.

Got a Varous cans of Hazy Jane/Elvis Juice/Dead Pony Club, some Leffe and a Case of Moretti to get through. Not been drinking that much this year though, and mainly on the wine yesterday.

S’funny how individual experiences of the same things can differ so much, and that’s OK. I agree that draught beer in a nice pub is always preferable but sometimes that’s not an option.

Cans V bottles. Some bottle conditioned bitters can be OK but IPAs, stronger or very hoppy ones in particular always taste better in cans than bottles imo. Totally disagree that all cans are “substandard”. There are some superb offerings from small brewers that you can only sample that way if you don’t live near the brewery or tap house.

    Proper Job in bottles.

Proper Job is a good example of an IPA that doesn’t taste great in a bottle IME. It’s a very enjoyable beer on draught but I think there are far superior canned IPAs than bottled PJ.

Each to their own though, no rights or wrongs in this, just personal taste 🙂

Brewdog 12 beers of Xmas and the brewery tour from the wife

And some dad branded punk and a corresponding glass from the littleuns.

Not done the brewery tour before despite it being A. My local brewery and B have done the castlegate to ellon fun run.

Foods good though. Eaten there plenty.

McEwan’s Champion in bottles is absolutely gorgeous, but in a can it’s barely drinkable – desperation stakes only.

We seem to have an overflow of beer at the moment.

Got a good selection from various different brewery’s including Tiny Rebel, Tartarus, Tempest, Thornbridge and some interesting colabs from Project X.

Mostly Imperial Stouts, DIPA’s and Marshmallow Porters.

I drank my pre-Xmas pressie of 3x Turning Point Singularity Stouts (12% heaven).

I haven’t started on my Tiny Rebel Sleigh Pufts or the selection box – will be some treats in the New Year…
