Anyone fancy joining in?

No dates / times in mind but I thought a bimble from Ton, over the ridgeway to the pub and back again via Forrest Fach.

Great, 6 is a good number - enough for it not to be a date, not so many as it takes 4 hours to get through a gate.

Weekend or evening ride whilst we have to light?

I typically ride Thursday evenings, but can be pretty flexible on that and again Sat or Sun mornings.

I'm in. Won't be around evenings for a while though.

Only just realised last weekend how many new trails there are on the eastern side of the Castell Coch road. Some very fine ones too. I can do Saturday or Sunday morning but Sundays would probaly rule out SaxonRider.

Excellent - I've agreed to ride BPW with a mate this weekend and my Wife is working the weekend after but how does Saturday the 22nd sound?

Meet outside the Lewis Arms at say - 09:30? Aim to be back about lunchtime for a pint?

I'll have my people put it in the plan.

That's two weeks away! Might as well be next year!

Room for a little one? As long as it's just a pootle-style of ride. I don't drink so will settle for a coke and a packet of pork scratchings ๐Ÿ˜€

Of course, you do realise of course that acceptance at this stage is binding.

I'm off that week anyway, at BPW on the Friday and planning to do a SDW attempt on the Monday hence a pootle would be best! Always like riding the ridgeway so sounds like a god way to kill a few hours.

Took a drive down the road that spits the woods at the castle this morning - it's basically a river.

Happy to take a rain-check, I'm going to to scurry off to somewhere more man made I think.

I don't mind the rain-check idea. Could still be in if the consensus is to go for it, but I will likely hit the road instead tomorrow instead of the mud. I'll be leaving on holiday shortly, and I don't think the Saxon family would thank me if I tracked in a house full of muck and dirty clothes!

Rain-check sounds good, no fun slogging through the mud in 'summer'. Will check here in the morning just in case.

Only just picked up on this thread. The route you described would be fine after the bit of rain we've had (this is Wales !)
Post back up on this thread if it happens, I'll certainly come along.

Aye, don't think it'll be too bad - apart from muddy bits by gates.

I will likely be there, but if I don't show by 09:35, go without me. I have to drop one of my kids off somewhere first.

Well if one rider's going I'll be there, weather looks no worse than a bit of light rain. I'll be on a Trek Fuel EX.

I'll be on a Trek Superfly FS in a white Catlike helmet with probably Endura waterproof shorts.

Well now we know who's tough and who's weak in Cardiff...

Fortune favours the brave. Good ride, good company and a new bit of trail discovered.

Really enjoyable ride - only had to push up one bit!
Now is a time for reflection - some of the no-shows need to take a long hard look at themselves.

PS good luck to Milky1980 for SDW

Me, molgrips and copa.

Was a good little spin with good company, always good to put faces to forum names. Seems like our collective local knowledge covers different bits so could be an opportunity to pool knowledge for future social rides. Should arrange another one for the no-shows/unable to make its.

Only got rained on for a little bit, trails were wet but only a few mud patches. So basically normal ๐Ÿ˜†

Yes, except don't expect SaxonRider to contribute, he has no idea where he is most of the time.
