    are can they be split with a normal chain tool, or do I need something a little more manly?

    When I ran a Shadow Conspiracy chain my regular chain tool wasn't wide enough, so I bought a Shadow one which was fine until it broke!

    Apparently, a Park chain tool will work on fat/half link chains.

    some chain tools are a bit narrow for 1/8th chain.

    the lifeline (from wiggle one) is very good.
