  • Bilbao – what to do?

I’m off to Bilbao for a wedding this week and will have a day / afternoon spare whilst my partner is doing pre-weddingy things.

So what to do to occupy myself – was thinking of trail run along the Camino del Nort to the next town along then bus back but that sounds a bit grim / industrial.

    Any suggestions?

Guggenheim. It’s got plenty of steps if you need exercise. Been a couple of times but just done urban stuff and surfing further away…

Walk around the old town and modernised food market

    Boat trip on the river

    visit the ‘other’ art gallery

Tube out to the coast (20 mins) and walk over the Puente Colgante, or Hanging Bridge (puente-colgante.com)

    Try the pintxos

Funicular railway shuttling up Artxanda Mountain

Hoof it up to San Sebastian on the bus and get Dougie’s guys to take you out on a ride on one of the rental bikes if they have a space in the van.

Run the other way (coastal path, Getxo – Sopelana), take the metro out of town.

San Sebastian is less than 10eur/1h on the bus, leaves every hour.

    San Juan de Gaztelugatxe?
