I’m reminded of a line from The Wire – “mess with a ****’s ride, yo gonna get his ‘tenshun”.

Now go and get the code to the secure cycle parking cage or next time you will have no bike.

Yours a victim of crime that is a bitter loser, don’t be like me!

Make friends with the security chaps. Buy them some donuts.
They are better as your servants than enemies.
Ask them for the coveted code.

my biggest problem at Uni was remembering where my bike was, it could be days sometimes before I found it again.

and honestly if you bike was locked to something that could easily be removed then it’s not secure.

I also saw a very nice bike once at uni locked to a post, next day there was a frame.

Mate had three pub bikes at one stage. Due to losing, buying another, then refinding them. Cost him more in locks than bikes. Drink is a terrible thing.

OP glad your bike is still yours. As others have alluded to, secure it to an immovable object next time.

There you go, OP. Just put your bike in Bokonon’s office.

I was thinking what I need to do is email him with a slightly obscure but analogous ethical question – hopefully with an obvious ethical conclusion.

Then do the big reveal. Hmmm…

    You could.

Or you could just get the number for the bike cage.
