Need to shorten a set of brake hoses, what's the best way to cut them?

Can I just use the cable cutter I use for gear cables or is something more burly needed to get a good finish?

cable cutters are useless for it, as i found out. finished it off with a sharp scalpel, much better.

Cable cutters cut braided hoses perfectly, I did two sets at the weekend. If your cable cutters aren't cutting them cleanly then you probably need a new set of cable cutters.

A sharp knife works well for standard hoses.
