Have been taking a break from humphing the bike up big hills and am now just humphing a pair of boots around, seems to be working!

We did Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin last weekend and really enjoyed the scrambling up the buttress. Now planning a trip to Ben Lui, taking in Beinn a'Cliebh as well, and had heard there was some (limited) scrambling on the way to the summit. Is this on the Stob na Tighe Aird ascent, or the Stob Garbh ascent from Glen Cononish?

    Cheers

    My favourite Munro!

If you just head straight up it, right through the main corrie, you'll need to scramble to the summit – you'll also need a head for heights and steady feet, its pretty steep near the top. If you're starting from Dalrigh (just before Tyndrum on the A82) taking a bike to leave at the river crossing saves a load of time which you can use to return by Beinn a'Chliebh and Ben Oss. That's a long day though so you'll be happy the return to Dalrigh is downhill!

Also, The Cobbler isn't far away, plenty of exciting scrambling on there for a future day out.

Cheers guys, done the Cobbler a couple of times and am planning another visit in September.

We're doing the Glen Cononish approach, hadn't thought of going straight through the corrie, are you sure that wouldn't involve some sort of climbing kit??

Looking forward to it, Beinn a'Chliebh was on the itinerary, hadn't thought to do Ben Oss, will suggest it to the other folk in the group.

If you mean Corrie Gaothach, that's the ordinary route. The track goes straight up it by the Allt Coire Gaothach up into the upper corrie, you then scuttle off to the left (as you look towards the hill) to pick up the hanging ridge on the SE of the top.

IIRC, there are 4 munros to be done ont 'that' day out with Beinn a Chleibh being a freebieif you contour round to the bealach before Beinn Oss.
