Can you guys recommend me some good Scottish route guides for an experienced biker?

In my library so far I've got:

Bike Scotland Book 1 - which is too basic
Bike Scotland Trails Guide - which is better

and I've heard good things about: Scotland Mountain Biking - the Wild Trails. Used it last weekend to do Ben Alder which was boggy as hell but great fun! If anyone has a copy of this they want rid of, I'm your man.

My latest addition is 101 Mountain BIking Routes in Scotland which I bought for pennies on amazon this morning. Lets see what thats like.

Any other suggestions?

These are pretty decent and come in a plastic pocket to protect them while riding - http://www.bikemaps.co.uk/scotland/mtb_maps.htm

The Wilson book is very good - some excellent routes in there. [Why does he rotate the maps though away from North? Hate that].

Thanks for the link to the Wild trails book - that looks pretty interesting.

I have the Henniker 101 routes and it's a bit old school tbh. Respect is due and all that to the pioneers of MTBing in Scotland in the 80s, but there's not too many serious routes there out of the 101 he describes (IIRC, not picked it up in ages). Saying that, he does include the traverse of Rannoch moor, which sounds pretty rough.

There's another classic Scottish MTB book by Ralph Storer - Exploring Scottish hill tracks or something like that. Probably 20+ years old now but well worth picking up if you can get hold of it.

Cool - thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I just checked out the Mountain bike scotland "the highlands" guide however its out of stock on Amazon.

It would appear that the author is preparing an updated version - no idea when it will be released though. See here for more detail.

Not tried any of the Scottish routes yet but the VG Guide to the Lakes is great so I would hope the Scottish one would be similarly good.
