Does it count if it only looks good from that angle? 🙂
Looks a little different from the side

I must admit, the lev and the renthal bars/stem needs to go...as do the purple pedals that don't match the decals...that will satisfy my slightly autistic side. 😆

Also, the above is just a bad picture. 😛 I don't know what you're on about, I don't usually like Santa Cruz's but with the yellow wheels on, I'd be hard pressed to choose between this or Jennifer Lawrence. My head would explode.

[img] [/img]

I think it would look even better in the large size 😀

If you're going to blow 6 grand on a bike, why be subtle about it? 😛 The black ones look a little bit to much like a prototype motorbike that's been blacked out for road tests to keep the journalists away!

It certainly looks a little less 'playskool' in black I think, but then, all my bikes are stealth, too. Just need to find a way to properly black out the tyre logos and I will be happy.

Nahhh, the blue one has a WSBK/motorsport kind of look going on.

Orange Decals and Orange Wheels would be pretty cool = eg Gulf Racing. If you think otherwise then you are a blasphemer.....

Do it. I design them as part of my day job. I'm afraid expenses might just about cover the frame if you are lucky.

I've always figured that as someone at an early career stage in medical research, that I should probably be on the receiving end of it at some point anyway. For science and all that.

The one I've looked at will give me a grand left over after the frame. That's the wheels and most of the fork covered. Then it would just be the drivetrain and finishing kit, I'd save a bit by going 1*10 instead.

Got an interview coming up with a well respected financial firm as well, so I might be tempted to ditch the science career for the time being until I decide I can be bothered with a PhD. Maybe I will be able to afford the bike without having to give myself an infectious disease for science! 🙂

Fingers crossed, I just printed out a photo of the bike and pinned it above my computer to help keep me focused on interview practice/revision. 🙂

It truly is. I'm always amazed at the number of, imo, butt ugly bikes that appear in these threads. I think often it's a case of 'I own this, therefore it's beautiful'.

So, apparently you can get the ohlins shock with the yellow spring valved for the Nomad. Ahem....there goes another non-existent 700 quid....cuz it's yellow. 😆

Too much yellow?

Presumably the majority of people buy one for both form and function...so you would find it beautiful before buying it?

It is, which is why I've tried to refrain from posting, but looking at that first Santa Cruz makes blood come out of my bottom.
That yellow simply does not go with the colour scheme of the frame.
Works with the pink and black wheels though.

I've got an incredibly good eye for design/style/aesthetics. The key to a best looking bike is down to dimensions/sizes and balance.

Then it comes down to purpose and functionality. It's got to be made for a specific job; no compromises. That rules out most of the bikes on this thread; and with good reason.

That Santa Cruz Bronson, it looks like it was designed around a colour scheme! The only thing it's missing is matching anodized headset and seat clamp. It doesnt surprise me though, afterall, their target market are the sort of people who have VW transporters with lowered suspension and alloy wheels (chavs?!)

Don't think chavs can usually afford them, new rich maybe. Anyway, I like the color scheme - then again I like bright/complementary or slightly discordant colors.

You're making the mistake of thinking that chavs are poor. They're not. The Range-Rover Evoque was specifically designed for Chavs.

DaveyT is right, it's a bike for chavs.

Most bikes have a logo and you're buying into a brand image with almost all of them.

In fact, other than the fact that the Nomads VPP has a few quirks, I'm not sure you are buying into an image as much with a Santa Cruz/Giant/Specialized as you are buying from a company with actual racing engineering experience as opposed to YT who sponsor a load of freeriders.

I like understated raw hardtails, there is a time and a place for them. There's also a time and place for something fun, I assume you buy all your bikes in beige or black....because people might think you're a chav? 😛 Not everyone buys bikes based on what others think about them (wanting or not wanting to be seen as a chav).

Hardtails aren't fun? Really? or was that a reference to 'fun colours'?

Tbh, I never thought it was about being a chav / anti-chav, however, purposely buying the brightest, most OTT paint job in the range certainly suggests an 'Everyone look at meeeee' attitude.

(Which might be a little bit chav) 😉

He is right. It's why that Nicolai up there is so right. Form follows function and all that.

Except most people buy Nicolais as they like the "industrial" form, completely forgetting that straight tubing has it's downsides and that swoopy hydroformed tubing or carbon actually has a function beyond it's aesthetics.

People who buy Nicolais are aesthetics whores to the same extent Santa Cruz buyers are.

Nahhh bright colors are just fun, some people might want them to big it up - I like them because they put a smile on my face.

Raw hardtails are fun to ride and pleasing to the eye, I wouldn't say the color scheme amuses me though. 😉

Anyway, most chav mobils are usually either chrome, matt black or white. 😀

As in cars not bikes, those Specialized bikes are a little/wayyyy to moto for my tastes. The rear bike is Gwins old Demo right? So it makes total sense it's styled like that.

See, that is how you do bright colors!

Lovely!

In regards to the Santa Cruz - short of respraying the frame, I'm thinking that removing the black decal on the underside of the frame in combination with orange decals and orange wheels would be the best option. Black everything else, perhaps a few more hints of orange could be added to the frame with a few more well placed decals.
