What options are their for best compromise weight/cost factory built wheels for a 29er?

They need to be 9mm QR front and rear, standard 100/135mm spacing. I’m think Mavic Crossride, but what about Fulcrum or maybe Superstar?? Budget ~£150 for either new or second hand.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Second hand stans crests/arch ex on hope? Sure I’ve seen them about for around that cash.

I don’t think you will get 29 hopes for that money, they are normally nearer 200 – 250, you might get 26 for that money these days.

Is this for a new build or to upgrade a factory set?

Something used and uncool since you want front QR. They’re not common but I have a set of WTB Stryker XCs in my commuter which are kind of ideal- light, but also cheap because they don’t convert to 15 and nobody wants front QR any more. Something like that.

Are you hung up on factory built though? The strykers are alright because they use pretty normal parts but most of the time, factory wheels are a pain in the arse waiting for the worst moment to happen.

I run fulcrum on my 29er 3 yrs old still true only replaced bearings. Impressed. Also have fulcrum on my 650b full suss, again great. Good value and we’ll made in my opinion cheap from Germany.

They’re to replace the OEM wheels on a Rockhopper. They don’t have to be factory built, but I assume that handbuilt are out of budget (unless second hand).

These look pretty good with the X392 rims and are £150 with the discount code (cheers for that!), I assume I need to spec ‘QR adaptor’ for both hubs?

    THIS

I bought them about 2 months ago. Stiff (for my riding), strong and mega light! White rims only, but they look cool.

    Hi
I’ve just sold a pair of hand built (admittedly by a mate) pair of original Pro2 Hope hubs with Stans Arch rims for £150 to someone on here.
Price was posted and I had the rims re-taped for him and included QR and 15mm adapters.
I’m happy with the price and it was an easy deal so they are available if you look.
    Cheers
    Steve
